Abstract

THE MAIN IDEA OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEM IS TO IMPROVE THE DISTANCED EDUCATION BY USING VR HEADSETS. WITH THIS TECHNOLOGY, STUDENTS CAN EFFICIENTLY INTERACT WITH THE COURSE CONTENT AND LEARN THE MATERIAL FASTER THAN THE TRADITIONAL METHODS .IN ADDITION TO THIS BENEFIT, VIRTUAL REALITY DEVICES ALSO DRAW THE ATTENTION OF YOUNG GENERATION AND THIS HELPS TO THE WIDESPREAD USE OF THIS TECHNOLOGY AMONG STUDENTS. THE DEVELOPERS TRIED TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM BY INVENTING MANY APPLICATIONS LIKE (ZOOM , GOOGLE MEET , …ETC) TO IMPROVE AND DEVELOP THE DISTANCED EDUCATION, BUT THE INTERACTION PROBLEM BETWEEN INSTRUCTORS AND STUDENTS IS STILL EXISTING. OUR PROPOSED SYSTEM SHALL IMPACT ON THE WHOLE SOCIETY BY INTRODUCING A VR WEB APPLICATION THAT STUDENTS SHALL USE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE TEACHER AND INTERACT WITH THE EQUIPMENT IN THE LAB WHICH WILL LEAD TO IMPROVE THE EDUCATIONAL TECHNIQUES AND HELPING STUDENTS NOT TO LOSE THEIR INTERACTION WITH THE ENVIRONMENT.

1.1 Purpose

The main purpose of this document is to represent the architecture and the system design of our system mini interactive E-learning Environment. Our proposed system is a web-based application system that helps students learn their practical courses by interacting with the lab materials in the 3D environment that’s created, instead of using the traditional methods. This Software Design Document (SDD) will describe the aim of the system and its functionalities. Moreover the document will show every one of the requirements of the system , All designs and diagrams that were needed to build the system.

1.2 Scope

The( Mini interactive E-learning Environment )system is a web-based application system that helps students learn their practical courses (chemistry course specifically) by interacting with the lab materials created in the 3D environment in which the student is allowed to do the experiments and see the results whether its right or wrong. This draw the attention of the students and help them learn faster instead of watching the experiment without interacting.

1.3 Overview

Just as the term virtual means a simulation of the real thing, Virtual Classroom is a simulated classroom via Internet, which provides a convenient communication environment for distance learners just like traditional face-to-face classroom. A virtual classroom allows students to attend a class from anywhere in the world and aims to provide a better learning experience that is similar to a real classroom. The system starts by the student and instructors logging in or signing up and giving the option for the student to Add/Drop a course .The data given is supposed to be uploaded/modified on the database. Then the students have to be accepted or assigned in the course to enter the Virtual reality session (Lecture). At the same time the teacher has to allow participants (students) to join the room. In the chemistry course, the students shall be allowed to attend the chemistry lab by wearing a VR Glasses to be able to see the virtual laboratory created . He or She shall see the lab materials and control them by using the VR controllers that allows the student to add, move or mix chemicals together to see the end results whether it’s right or wrong. To complete creating the real laboratory room the system shall allow interaction between the students as the instructor is supposed to show the students the steps of the experiment and how it’s going to work. The session should be recorded and ends by giving the students and teachers an option to give feedback for each other on the lecture just for noticing.

1.4 Intended audience

This system targets students and teachers in secondary stages that would use the virtual environment to help them in school teaching and interacting as if they are in a real chemistry lab. In terms of security, users should be authenticated before granting access to the Virtual Classroom. Students should have access according to their respective authorization privileges.
