Abstract

The main idea of this project is to try to facilitate the lives of people wearing optical glasses. People who suffer from Low-order aberrations wear their optical glasses for long periods and that might make them suffer from headaches and make them uncomfortable throughout the day. We try to make their lives easier by making screens that render based on their eye vision measurements so they don’t have to wear optical glasses while working on their laptops, mobiles, etc.

1.1 Background

According to a study, An estimated 41.6% of the US population and around half or more of the population in some Asia countries  suffer from myopia when the rays refract and don’t collect these light rays on the eye retina this could cause conditions like Myopia (Nearsightedness) which occur when the light rays are focused in front of the retina instead of on the retina and Hyperopia (Farsightedness) which is a problem in the focusing ability of the eye, which can be treated by various ways which is called correction of aberration, one of the treatment methods is to magnify the objects using lens the other is using eyeglasses the refract the rays to be adjusted on the eye retina also the surgery could help treat eye conditions and a contact lens is one of the most commonly used methods, all these methods have its bad sides which our project can offer an alternative to them. Also, there is Astigmatism which is an imperfection in the curvature of the eye that causes blurred distance and near vision. Also for the PSF(Point Spread Function), it is the response of a single point source of light. For example, if someone wants to look at the stars, If his vision is perfect he will see it as points of light, but if someone with eye aberrations he will see them as blurry spots lights. So they are used to visualize optical errors.

1.2 Motivation

Around the world, most of the population suffer from eye conditions that let them experience overall blurry vision and according to the vision council, 164 million adults just in the US wear eyeglasses. A large number of people suffer from myopia and it is estimated to increase from around 1.4 billion to 50 billion by 2050 Vision display correction will let people not use glasses or contact lenses anymore. In pamplona Initiate to enable the display to correct the observer visual aberrations by using light field displays. The approach relies to show a 2D image to the observer’s focal range, outside the physical display enclosure. Light rays that offer this ability needs extremely high angular sampling rates, which will reduce the image resolution. As a high-resolution alternative.

1.3 Problem Statement

Myopia and Hyperopia have been an issue for a lot of people as they are affected by many situations that could prevent them from enjoying their daily activities such as reading an article on smartphones or finishing a task for work. These obstacles could lead to psychological problems as a lot of people are not comfortable with medical glasses, many people spend a lot of money on medical lenses of eye-glasses to use their smart devices, our system is proposed to solve the problems of myopia and hyperopia while using smart devices at no cost, as a conclusion our vision correction display system is designed to solve a problem for a lot of people and to give up using their eyeglasses while using smart devices.

The main problems we face:

1-The screen takes from 20-40 seconds to render 16 samples which is a lot of time.

2- The degraded screen will have low sharpness and brightness so we need to figure out a way to produce a high-quality picture.
